What is astronomy? What do astronomers do? Campers will learn about this fascinating field of science through hand-on activities such as Stellarium, a computer-based stargazing
program. Campers will learn how to apply the scientific process and utilize proper investigative techniques through a series of experiments that simulate how matter behaves in a variety of environments, such as a space station. Campers will also find out how astronomers work with astronauts, how these scientists increase our knowledge about outer space, and how they are currently working on space-ventures (such as mining asteroid fields!) that will one day enable us to utilize resources that exist beyond the Earth's atmosphere. This week-long camp will culminate with a visit by a professional astronomer who will guide students in learning how to use telescopes. Director: Nancy Beltaire. 1 week. Extended care is available, please enroll with ID#2129.211.
Campers bring own lunch, snacks and beverage.
