First Steps is easy to join! 

You cannot register online for a class until you attend an orientation to learn more about our program.  Please attend one of the upcoming orientations (schedule).  This takes about an hour and here is where we're located.

The entire program is explained before you fill out our enrollment paperwork and choose a class for the upcoming session.  We are a year-round program. 

Fall is September through December with 13 weeks of classes.

Fall Half Session is in late October through the end of December with 6 weeks of classes.

Winter is January through March with 11 weeks of classes.

Spring is April through mid-June with 10 weeks of classes.

Summer is mid-June through mid August with 7 weeks of classes.

We have classes at Abbot Elementary, Bryant Elementary, Preschool & Family Center (office located here) and Northside Community Center (our only non-AAPS location).

If you decide you're not ready to participate yet, please fill out the paperwork and leave it with us.  That way, when you are ready, you may call and activate your paperwork over the phone.

Sliding Fee Scale

All families living in the AAPS district who are permanent residents or have a green card are eligible to apply for a full or partial scholarship.  Pick up an application from us (or download information and form here), turn everything in and allow at least 10 days to process before you join.  You must be a permanent resident or have a green card to qualify.  Click here to see the sliding scale.

Length of Participation

Your participation lasts for as long or as short as you choose.  Join for Summer only or continue with us for years.  You are joining a program that has a purpose beyond taking a class with your child.  Find out more by emailing us or attending an orientation.
