First Steps Ann Arbor: First Steps Fee Scale

In order to use our Sliding-fee Scale, please do the following:
    1. Ask us for an application - there are directions on the application. Or download information and application form here.
    2. Complete and sign the application.
    3. Provide verification of residency.
    4. Provide verification of income or support
    5. College and University Students:
        Provide proof of financial aid, tuition waivers, health care
        coverage, grants, loans, etc.   You must have either a green card or be a permanent resident to apply.
    6. Turn everything in. It will take up to 10 days to process.

If you are eligible, AAPS Community Education and Recreation will let you know. Please let us know too!
    You may not participate in First Steps until your scholarship is approved or full payment is received.

Figuring out your fee -
▪ Find your household size (number of people living in your home, including children) and then follow that line across to the right and match it with your income before taxes. This is your level.
    *If you make more than the amount listed in one column you are in the next column to the right.
▪ Follow the column down to find your actual payment. You will pay for Summer, Fall, Winter or Spring only, depending on when you join. Each session is a different length and a different amount.

Interested in taking a second class? There is no sliding scale but we've kept it as affordable as possible.
